A Butler woman charged with delivering heroin was placed into the county Drug Treatment Program on Monday.

Rainy M. Rose, 32, entered an alternative plea before Judge William Shaffer, pleading guilty to two misdemeanor counts of possession of drug paraphernalia. She will be sentenced to a total of two years’ probation upon completion of the Drug Treatment Court.

She is currently in the Drug Treatment Court program on an unrelated case, and this sentence will run concurrent to that one, as it occurred before she was placed into the program, Shaffer said.

Alternatively, if Rose fails to complete the program, she will be sentenced on a felony count of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, which carried a 21- to 60-month state prison sentence.

Further proceedings were postponed pending the treatment court outcome.

State police said Rose sold four stamp bags of heroin Feb. 29, 2016, at East Pearl and Second streets. State police lab tests confirmed the bags contained heroin, documents said.

She was also found with multiple items of drug paraphernalia, police said.
