BUTLER TWP — An Armstrong County teenager is facing drug charges for allegedly having nearly a dozen “pot brownies” as well as baggies of suspected marijuana and other contraband.

District Judge Kevin O'Donnell on Thursday arraigned Adam D. Fox, 18, of Freeport on charges of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.

The charges stem from a Butler Township Police investigation that began Sept. 16 and led to a traffic stop near Delwood Road where the defendant's girlfriend lives, according to court documents.

Fox was a passenger in the car that was pulled over. The vehicle smelled of marijuana and the teen eventually admitted that he had the drug in his back pack.

A search of the pack, documents said, turned up 11 marijuana-laced brownies, two Ziploc bags of marijuana and another bag of marijuana seeds.

Police said they also found two marijuana grinders and a smoking pipe in the same pack. In all, the confiscated marijuana exceeded 30 grams.

In Pennsylvania, a small amount of marijuana is defined as being no more than 30 grams, or a little more than an ounce. More than 30 grams can be a misdemeanor or a felony.

Officers seized the evidence but allowed Fox to leave on the condition that he turn himself in to authorities for arraignment once charges were filed. Police charged him last week.

He remains free on his own recognizance pending his preliminary hearing set for Feb. 8.
