A Beaver Falls woman was sentenced to probation in Butler County Court on Thursday after being charged with leading police on a high-speed chase and almost hitting two people.

Amy Barr, 30, was sentenced to a total of 36 months probation by Judge William Shaffer.

Barr previously pleaded guilty to felony fleeing or attempting to elude law enforcement, misdemeanor recklessly endangering another person, summary driving on a suspended license, reckless driving, driving without insurance and accidents to unattended vehicles or property on Sept. 11.

She was ordered to pay court costs and $1,000 in fines.

She was initially charged with felony fleeing or attempting to elude law enforcement, recklessly endangering another person, possession of display documents, possession of drug paraphernalia, summary driving on a suspended license, operating without a valid inspection, accidents to unattended vehicles or property, reckless driving, failing to yield in a construction zone and driving without insurance after the incident on April 8.

Cranberry Township police said Barr's vehicle was seen by an officer on Powell Road, passing the police cruiser in the oncoming lane with an expired inspection sticker from 2014.

A traffic stop was attempted, but the vehicle sped off and a chase ensued, through a construction site at Powell Road and Valley View Drive where the road was restricted to one lane with alternating directions of travel, and the vehicle failed to stop at a stop sign being held by a construction worker and was close to hitting the worker.

The vehicle then sideswiped a work vehicle parked along the edge of the road, police said, before continuing through a church parking lot at a high rate of speed and almost hitting a 3-year-old walking through the lot.

The vehicle then stopped and two people ran off down a gravel trail that leads back toward Freedom Road, police said.

Both were arrested. Barr was identified as the driver and was found to have a suspended driver's license, no valid insurance, no inspection, and the license plate on the vehicle did not belong to that car, police said.

She also was found in possession of drug paraphernalia, police said.
