PARKER TWP — Firefighters extinguished a fire in a second-floor bedroom of a house early Sunday morning.

The fire was reported at 1:56 a.m. in the 2300 block of Kittanning Pike near the Armstrong County line.

Firefighters saw flames shooting out of two bedroom windows when they arrived at the scene, said Mike Nugent, Parker City fire chief.

The fire was contained to the bedroom and a hallway and the house will be salvageable, Nugent said. Fire crews used tarps to protect furniture and belongings on the first floor from water and smoke damage. No one was hurt in the fire.

A man, a woman and a boy who live there were in touch with American Red Cross.

The cause of the fire was unknown Sunday, but it was not considered suspicious, Nugent said.

The Parker City fire department was assisted at the scene by the Petrolia, Bruin, Chicora and Emlenton fire departments.
