Man pleads guilty to drug charge
A Zelienople man pleaded guilty to selling marijuana to a police informant in Butler County Court on Wednesday.
William C. Bennett, 54, pleaded guilty to felony possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance before Judge William Shaffer.
The plea agreement calls for probation and fines when he is set for sentencing on Sept. 7.
Bennett was initially charged with four felony drug delivery counts, two felony counts of criminal use of a communications device and two misdemeanor counts of possession of a controlled substance after an incident on Feb. 24, 2016.
The Butler County Drug Task Force conducted an investigation into Bennett allegedly selling marijuana in the Zelienople area.
A confidential informant said Bennett offered to sell him an ounce of marijuana for $375, and a deal was set up that day, according to court documents.
The sale, with officers watching, was made outside the suspect's home on South Main Street. A separate one-ounce deal for $375 was made March 11, again in a parking lot near Bennett's apartment, documents said.
He was arrested, arraigned and later posted $30,000 bail and was released.
