EAST BUTLER — The boyfriend of a woman who allegedly overdosed on heroin while seven months pregnant is accused of selling heroin to a police informant.

Andrew W. Lucas, 37, of East Butler is being held in the Butler County Prison on $100,000 bail in connection with the latest case filed against him.

The Butler County Drug Task Force arrested Lucas last week on drug trafficking charges in connection with an alleged drug deal May 19 in East Butler.

Investigators allege the defendant sold 10 stamp bags of heroin to an informant for $70. The deal happened on Oak Alley.

District Judge Lewis Stoughton on Thursday arraigned Lucas on felony charges of delivery and possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, and a misdemeanor charge of possession of a controlled substance.

The drug task force case comes less than two weeks after state police charged Lucas in connection with the June overdose of his pregnant girlfriend at their apartment on Tenth Street

Police said Lucas, the father of 30-year-old Kasey R. Dischman's unborn child and the couple's 6-year-old daughter, on June 23 called 911 to report finding Dischman unresponsive in the bathroom.

Paramedics told police she had a closed head injury and was vomiting with seizure-like activity when they arrived, according to court documents.

Police said the couple's daughter was also at the apartment.

Lucas denied there was drug activity at the home, but police said he later acknowledged when they brought him in for a urine test that he had used heroin.

Police said Dischman later would also admit that she injected herself with heroin she found under a couch at the home.

An ambulance crew took Dischman to Butler Memorial Hospital where she went into cardiac arrest. She was flown to UPMC Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh and subsequently placed on a ventilator.

She wasn't treated for an overdose until a test at Mercy Hospital revealed opioids in her blood, police said.

Because of what Lucas told first-responders, emergency crews did not administer the opioid antidote Narcan, which would have been crucial in directly treating Dischman and indirectly her unborn child.

Dischman was subsequently transferred to UPMC Magee-Women's Hospital in Pittsburgh, where her baby girl was delivered by emergency C-section the day after the overdose.

The baby is reportedly recovering but her condition is not known.

Police on July 28 charged Lucas with child endangerment, corruption of minors and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Dischman is already awaiting trial on a felony charge of aggravated assault of an unborn child. She is in the county prison on $500,000 bail.

Prosecutors in court documents last week said they plan to file additional charges against her, including child endangerment, corruption of minors and possession of a controlled substance.
