A traffic stop Tuesday morning in Butler netted more than 300 stamp bags of suspected heroin, other drug contraband and a loaded handgun, authorities said.

State police stopped Darnell L. Glenn Jr., 30, of Pittsburgh at about 11:30 a.m. on Virginia Avenue for driving a car with a broken taillight.

Officers a short time later arrested his passenger, Amanda L. Cypher, 32, of Butler Township, when they learned she was wanted on a felony warrant for allegedly stealing a car last month.

A search of Cypher's purse, police said, turned up numerous empty stamp bags of suspected heroin and other drug paraphernalia.

While at Glenn's car, a 2002 Cadillac STS, police noticed what appeared to be a small amount of marijuana.

Police seized the car, believing there were drugs in it, and got a search warrant. Glenn was allowed to leave.

The search, according to court documents, found 301 bags of what appeared to be heroin in the trunk. Also in the trunk were a digital scale and a 9 mm pistol loaded with a magazine containing 13 rounds of ammunition.

Because of his criminal record, Glenn is not permitted to have any firearms.

His history, according to Allegheny County Court records, show felony convictions for drug possession, illegally possessing a firearm and assault.

Police said they plan to obtain an arrest warrant for Glenn on felony drug and gun charges stemming from Tuesday's traffic stop. Cypher is facing a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.

Cypher was arraigned Wednesday on a felony theft charge in connection with her arrest warrant.

Butler police in that warrant allege that she stole another woman's car July 19 in the 300 block of Walker Avenue.

The owner, according to court documents, told police that she was taking a nap when Cypher took her keys and drove away in her 2010 Chevrolet Malibu.
