First responders work Wednesday afternoon at the site of a two-vehicle crash on Route 68 in Donegal Township. A car and a pickup collided. One driver was taken to the hospital.

DONEGAL TWP — Route 68 was to be closed until PennDOT officials could inspect a portion of the road where a two-vehicle accident at 5:29 p.m. Wednesday sent one person to the hospital with unknown injuries.

Keith Kramar, 55, of Chicora, said he was driving east in his white Chevrolet pickup truck when a gray Toyota sedan traveling west began to fishtail near the intersection with O'Donnell Road.

Kramar said the Toyota came into his lane and began sliding sideways shortly before the two vehicles collided. The front end of Kramar's truck hit the passenger side of the Toyota, he said.

Kramar suffered a minor head injury and refused medical treatment at the scene.

The driver of the Toyota, whom state police did not immediately identify, was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with unknown injuries, according to Rick Craig, assistant chief of Chicora Volunteer Fire Department.

Craig said firefighters were concerned with the condition of the road following the crash, after fluids from both vehicles, which sustained heavy damage, leaked and created a potentially slippery condition.

As of about 6:30 p.m. Craig said PennDOT had been contacted but there was no estimate of when the road would reopen.
