Venango Twp. trailer burns
VENANGO TWP — A trailer burned following a fire around 6 p.m. Tuesday at 450 Jamison Road, according to Eau Claire firefighter Ed Deal.
The trailer was next to a one-story house, which sustained heat damage to its siding.
There were no injuries, though owner Kim Tibbetts was inside the house with her daughter when the trailer caught fire. Her stepson was outside playing.
“He just came in running and told me, 'the trailer's on fire,'” Tibbetts said.
Tibbetts attempted to contain as much of the fire as she could by pouring buckets of water onto it.
“I knew pretty quick it was out of my control,” she said.
She gathered up her children in her truck, and drove it across the yard to safety.
Firefighters extinguished the fire within 20 minutes using water.
The cause of the fire is unknown. Tibbetts estimated the trailer to be worth $2,500.
She also said the trailer was storing equipment owned by a friend of hers who had recently moved, including a treadmill and tools.
There also were filing cabinets and a desk inside the trailer.
Volunteer fire companies from Eau Claire, Marion Township, Clintonville, Harrisville and North Washington were on scene, as well as Emlenton Ambulance Services.
