Terrence Chenot
U.S. Navy Chief Petty Officer Terrence George Chenot, SFC (DV), retired, of Lenoir, N.C., born Dec. 8, 1942, underwent his transformation from this world into the next Jan. 31.
He is lovingly mourned by his mother, Catherine Tiedt-Chenot-Divers-Coleman; his wife and devoted care giver, Donna Losteter-Sellers-Chenot; his first wife, Judith Heasley-Chenot; his daughter, Cherie Chenot-Rose and her husband, Vincent Rose; his stepdaughter, Lori Sellers-Anderson and her husband, Hank Anderson; his stepson, Daniel Sellers and his wife, Lesa; four grandchildren; additional adoring family; varied kindred spirits; and a wealth of friends.
A Navy hard-hat, deep-sea diver, Terry became one of the first Frogmen, pioneering the way for SCUBA by exploring the use of unassisted diving techniques. Terry also diligently served aboard the USS Penguin (ASR-12) and several destroyers, including the USS Mullinnix (DD-944) during Project Gemini.
After serving our country, Terry returned to his hometown of Butler, where he worked at Pullman Standard, attended Butler Community College, and eventually became a highly recognized national service officer for the Disabled American Veterans.
A man of adventure, Terry loved sailing, water skiing, hang gliding, ultralights, sailplanes, Jeeps, dune buggies, hot rods and Harleys. He lived life large and fast, eventually retiring in the tranquil town of Lenoir, N.C.
CHENOT — Military funeral honors for Terrence George Chenot, who died Sunday, Jan. 31, 2016, will be at 2 p.m. May 22 at the Linway United Presbyterian Church, 600 Lincoln Highway, North Versailles.Those attending are requested to bring their fondest memories of Terry and are invited to join the family for refreshments and reflections in the church social hall immediately following the service.Remembrances may be made in the form of memorial contributions to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
