Thomas J. Frobe
Thomas J. Frobe, 80, of Slippery Rock passed away at 4:32 p.m. Saturday afternoon in the emergency room of Butler Memorial Hospital.
Tom was born Oct. 18, 1935, in Pittsburgh to Edward and Helen O'Brien Frobe, and he was raised in the Catholic faith. He was a graduate of South Vocational School, Pittsburgh, in the Class of 1954. Following high school, he served in the U.S. Army.
Throughout his life he was an over-the-road truck driver, a job that he always loved and was very proud of having. He retired from Matlack Trucking Co. and he was a former recipient of the Million Mile Safe Driving Award for safe operations and driving of his vehicle.
During his retirement, he was employed by FYDA Freightliner, Harrisville.
Tom is survived by his companion of many years, Wanda Kesner at home; his daughter, Helen T. Unrath and her husband, Dylan, of Kennedy Township, Allegheny County; his grandson, Jesse Anthony Boehm of Pittsburgh; his brother, Edward Frobe of Pittsburgh; his brother-in-law, Jim Smith of Pittsburgh; many nieces and nephews; and his dog, Maggie.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Jean Smith.
<hardreturn>FROBE — A Mass for Thomas J. Frobe, who died Saturday, April 23, 2016, will be at noon Saturday at St. Peter's Catholic Church, 670 S. Main St., Slippery Rock, with the Rev. Kevin Poecking as celebrant. One of Tom's requests was that family and friends attend in casual blue jeans. <br />Memorials in Tom's memory may be made to the Slippery Rock Rescue Squad or to any humane society chapter.<br />Arrangements are by the Cunningham Funeral Home, 306 Bessemer Ave., Grove City.<br class="hardreturn" />
