Woman arrested for 2 crimes, same victim
An Allegheny County woman is headed for possible trial on charges she targeted the same victim in separate crimes just a week apart in Butler.
Selena Y. Klapheke, 20, of Tarentum on Monday waived her preliminary hearings in both cases at the office of District Judge William Fullerton.
Klapheke is accused of snatching a cell phone out of Charles Bucci’s hands as she rode past him on a bicycle about 11 a.m. April 27, Butler police said.
Bucci told officers that he had just walked out of his home on South Bluff Street when the “ride-by” theft occurred. He said he ran after the suspect but lost sight of her.
Police identified Klapheke as the suspect based in part on Bucci’s description, court documents said. The next day, they obtained a warrant for her arrest on charges of robbery, theft and receiving stolen property.
On May 3, she allegedly returned to the scene of the crime and this time broke into Bucci’s home. He lives in one of multiple sleeping rooms at the house, police said,
The victim told officers that he caught Klapheke coming out of his room, documents said. When he tried to speak to her, she ran down the stairs. She is accused of stealing a shirt and $80 in currency.
A short time later, police arrested Klapheke, who was placed in the Butler County Prison.
She is charged in the latter crime with burglary and theft.
The defendant waived all charges in both cases to court. Afterward, Fullerton changed her $50,000 bail to non-monetary conditions.
But Klapheke remains in the prison for violating her probation in connection with two drug cases.
