2 workers hit by car at construction site
EAST PITTSBURGH, Allegheny County — Two employees of a Saxonburg-based construction company Tuesday morning were reportedly hit by a vehicle at a construction site in Allegheny County.
The incident occurred on a Lincoln Highway overpass near the Westinghouse Bridge when a vehicle driven by an unidentified woman struck a Jersey barrier and drove onto a guard rail.
One worker was just grazed by the vehicle while a female worker was thrown onto the hood of the vehicle. She was taken to a hospital for evaluation.
Police said the driver had a bump on her head and initially refused treatment but was later taken to a hospital.
Employees of Brayman Construction of Saxonburg were at the site of a $2.4 million bridge rehabilitation project, according to the state Department of Transportation’s website. The work is being done where the road crosses over Bessemer Avenue.
A representative of Brayman said it still needed to gather information about the incident.
Brayman is a heavy equipment contractor, according to its website.
