Joseph L. Hartman

Joseph L. Hartman Sr., 71, of Butler passed away Tuesday evening in the emergency room of Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born in Renfrew, June 3, 1944, he was the son of the late Joseph T. and Helen Norma Critchlow Hartman Jr.

He retired in 2008 as a heavy equipment operator for Local Union 66.

Joe was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Butler.

He belonged to Local Union 66 for 50 years. He enjoyed the outdoors and was president of Bucco Camp Club. He also loved woodworking.

He is survived by his wife, Roberta “Bobbie” Michael Hartman, whom he married May 14, 1964; two daughters, Jeanette (Harold “Tiny”) Lester of Evans City and Janice L. Strobel of Penn Township; one son, Joseph L. (Khristine Shindledecker) Hartman Jr. of Butler; one sister, Patti L. Ferguson of Tennessee; two grandsons, David Gillespie and Tyler Hartman; three step-grandchildren, Angel, Amber and Devin; two step-great-grandchildren, Leland and Airibella; and nieces and nephews.
