Grover C. Rahiser Jr.
Grover C. Rahiser Jr., 91, of Ocala, Fla., formerly of Evans City, passed away May 30 in Ocala, Fla.
Born Feb. 7, 1924, in Evans City, he was the son of the late Grover C. Rahiser Sr. and Magdalena Martha (Wahl) Rahiser.
Grover was a member of St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Ocala, Fla., and St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Evans City.
Grover proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II while stationed in the South Pacific, specifically the Philippines and New Guinea. He was also a 50-year life member of the Harmony Masonic Lodge and the Scottish Rite of New Castle.
After his discharge from the military, Grover married Earla Mae Clark in 1946. They were married by his uncle, the Rev. Dr. William Pfeifer, a Lutheran minister. Grover earned his degree in mechanical engineering and worked for United Engineering in Pittsburgh until his retirement in January of 1987.
Grover was a member of the EEA, and during his retirement he successfully realized his dream of manufacturing and flying two sport aircraft. He also enjoyed spending time golfing, bowling and fishing.
Grover will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by his family.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife of 69 years, Earla; two daughters, Donna Eppinger and her husband, Douglas, of New Brighton and Kim Mikulan and her husband, David, of Pittsburgh; six grandchildren, Eric Eppinger and his wife, Elaina, Kari Eppinger DeHart and her husband, Arthur, Dana Eppinger, Daniel Mikulan, Kevin Mikulan and Brandi Mikulan; and three great-grandchildren, Arianna, Shawn and Julius Ghafoor.
In addition to his parents, Grover was preceded in death by his brother, Dr. Robert H. Rahiser and his two nephews, John A. and Dennis S. Rahiser, all of Columbia, S.C.
RAHISER — The family of Grover C. Rahiser Jr., who died Saturday, May 30, 2015, conducted a memorial service at St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Ocala, Fla.At a private interment service, he will be laid to rest with full military honors in the Zelienople Community Mausoleum.Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Boylan Funeral Home, 324 E.
