Virginia Clara Winkle Zahn
Virginia Clara Winkle Zahn, 87, of New Sewickley Township passed away Friday at UPMC Passavant Hospital in McCandless Township.
Born on July 30, 1927, in Center Township, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Claribel Lutz Winkle.
Virginia was a longtime, faithful member of the St. John's Burry's Church and a member of the Big Knob Grange.
She was a hostess for Denny's Restaurant in Cranberry Township for more than 25 years.
Virginia was a devoted Steelers fan and an avid bowler. She will be most remembered for the crocheted items she had the pleasure of making for so many over the years.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her four children, Linda Lee Zahn, Barbara Blank and her husband, Robert Blank, Beverly Rose and her husband, John Rose, and Russell D. Zahn and his wife, Kathy Zahn; her eight grandchildren, Nikki Zahn Ruiz, Jeffrey Blank and his wife, Jennifer Blank, Jason Blank and his wife, Jodi Blank, Pam Fuerst and her husband, Jordan Fuerst, Michelle Badger and her husband, Dave Badger, Ben Zahn, Katie Zahn, and Courtney Zahn, and her 10 great-grandchildren, Owen, Mikayla and Grace Blank, Colton and Morgan Blank, KatyAnn, Juliet and Hudson Fuerst, and Bailey and Zoe Badger.
In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 62 years, Russell C. Zahn, who she married on Sept. 28, 1946, and who passed away on July 24, 2008; her two sisters, Ella Scobie and Dorothy Durr; her brother, Bussi Winkle, and her three brothers-in-law.
Zahn — Virginia's family will welcome friends of Virginia Clara Winkle Zahn, who died Friday, Feb. 13, 2015, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Boylan Funeral Home, 324 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople. Additional visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of a funeral ceremony at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the St. John's Burry's Church, 1835 Route 68, Rochester, Pa., with the Rev. Win Groseclose officiating.
