Wilfred W. "Bill" "Stumpy" Wetzel

Wilfred W. “Bill” “Stumpy” Wetzel, 93, of Sarver passed away Thursday at his home.

Born on Feb. 24, 1921, in Sarver, he was the son of the late Edward Wetzel and Edna Jahnig Wetzel.

Bill worked as a crew foreman for Moonlight Mushroom, retiring after 40 years. He was a farmer, having moved to his farm in 1951.

He was a member of the St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Saxonburg, the Saxonburg Golden Agers and the Moonlight Mushroom Retirees. He enjoyed junking (recycling) and playing dominoes and cards.

Surviving are his children, Doris (Roy) Miller of Natrona Heights, Wesley (Janie) Wetzel of Ford Cliff, Bonnie (Butch) Yates of Cabot, Billie (Glenna) Wetzel of Cabot, Linda Heade of Saxonburg, Tom (Teresa) Wetzel of Sarver, and Jim Wetzel of Sarver; his five sisters, Twila Fink of Sarver, Alda Barr of Scottdale, Violet Wetzel of Saxonburg, Jean Wetzel of Saxonburg, and June (Nick) Golojuh of Cabot; his 21 grandchildren; his 35 great-grandchildren, and his 16 great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Madeline Wetzel, on Aug. 7, 2013; his daughter, Dana Robinson; his son-in-law, Bob Heade; his two brothers, Earl and Irving Wetzel; his three sisters, Delsie Montgomery, Elizabeth Young and Leonice Cypher; his three grandchildren, and his two great-grandchildren.

Wetzel — The friends of Wilfred W. “Bill” “Stumpy” Wetzel, who passed away Thursday, Feb. 12, 2015, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at theFox Funeral Home, 410 W. Main St., Saxonburg.Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the St. Luke's Lutheran Church with the Rev. Roger G. Keller officiating.
