The free Outdoor Discovery series, hosted by the Butler County Parks and Recreation Department, will feature “Let There Be Slime” at 6:30 p.m. today at Alameda Park's Carousel Shelter. Call 724-284-5383. The program slated for Aug. 7 is “Be a Scientist” with Jennings Environmental Education Center.

Cruises aboard Nautical Nature, a 37-passenger enclosed pontoon boat, include a 90-minute narrated tour of Lake Arthur, as sponsored by the Moraine Preservation Fund. Cruises begin at 1 and 3 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. Tickets for adults are $11 online and $12 at the gate; for senior citizens, $9 and $10; and for children, $5 and $6. McConnells Mill State Park, Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County, hosts “A Taste of History: Dutch Oven Cooking Demonstrations” from noon to 3 p.m. Aug. 10 and Sept. 14. The historic mill is open 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Call 724-368-8811.
