Emily Krzesinski

Emily Alice Brzeski Krzesinski, 89, of Lakeland, Fla., formerly of Zelienople, passed away Monday from natural causes.

She was born on Dec. 21, 1924, in Buffalo, N.Y., to attorney Stanley J. Brzeski and her adored mother, Emily C. Brzeski.

Emily was raised and educated in Buffalo, N.Y. She attended SUNY at Buffalo, where she earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education. Her further graduate studies included work at Elmira College in New York and Cornell University. For many years Emily attended Elderhostel programs as part of her desire for life-long learning.

She moved to Elmira, N.Y., as the bride of the late Dr. Edwin P. Krzesinski. She lived in Elmira for 60 years, then enjoyed the remainder of her life in Lakeland, Fla., with her companion, the late Mr. Wesley A. Pribla. She also enjoyed summering in Zelienople with her daughter, Dr. Maribeth Krzesinski.

Emily loved to travel, and she traveled extensively worldwide throughout her life. Her traveling companions included her husband, her daughter, and her son-in-law. In her later life she enjoyed attending plays on Broadway and cruising with the late Mr. John Lennon.

For 25 years, she taught in Elmira Heights, West Elmira, and Elmira, touching the lives of hundreds of children. During her lifetime, she was active and interested in many organizations and concerned with environmental issues.

In Elmira, she served on the church council of the St. Casmir’s Church and was a member of the Rosary Society and the Sacred Heart Society. She was a Eucharistic minister in the Catholic Church and a member of the St. Gregory’s Parish, Zelienople.

Emily was the “Woman of Achievement” at the American Association of University Women, president of the Chemung County Dental Auxiliary, and a 50-year member of the National Medical & Dental Association. She was also active in the Polish Arts Club of Elmira, the National Education Association, the NYS Teacher’s Association, the Arnot Art Museum, the Elmira Historical Society, the Clemens Center, the Cancer Society, and the American Red Cross. Emily also served as a 20-year volunteer at the LPGA Corning Classic, and was a Red Hat Lady.

Emily was a faithful and devoted wife, a supportive and adoring mother, a beloved daughter, a dear sister, a loving aunt, a patient teacher, and a caring friend.

She is survived by her daughter, Dr. Maribeth Krzesinski and her husband, Dr. Gregory M. Semashko, of Zelienople. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Mrs. Dolores Krzesinski, and her 14 wonderful nieces and nephews.

Emily was preceded in death by her idolized siblings, Mrs. Sylvia Chmiel, Mrs. Natalie Kozlowski, and Mr. Stanley Brzeski.

Krzesinski — Calling hours for Emily Alice Brzeski Krzesinski, who passed away Monday, Feb. 24, 2014, are at the Heath Funeral Chapel, 328 S. Ingraham Avenue, Lakeland, Fla., from 2 to 5 p.m. today with a prayer service at 2:30 p.m.A Mass of Christian burial is planned later at the St. Gregory's Catholic Church in Zelienople. Emily will be laid to rest in the family grave site at the St. Stanislaus Roman Catholic Cemetery in Buffalo, N.Y.Condolences may be sent to the family at www.heathfuneralchapel.com.
