Jean Louise Cooper, 66, of Butler passed away at 2:55 a.m. Saturday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice after suffering a stroke.

Jean was born on Oct. 18, 1947, in Butler to Adam Swidzinski and the late Ardith “Betty” Swidzinski.

After graduating in 1965 from high school, she began working as a secretary for the Butler School District. Jean's love for travel and adventure led her to become a flight attendant for Allegheny Airlines. After dedicating time to raising her family, she returned to the Butler School District, where she worked for 22 years before retiring in 2009. The majority of her career as a library aide focused on instilling her love of reading to children.

Jean was an active member of the North Main Street Church of God. Her activities included Bible studies, book clubs, gardening, cooking and biking. She loved camping and traveling, especially with her two granddaughters.

She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Walter Cooper; her two children and their spouses, Amy (Cooper) and Eric Huff of Mars and Adam and Katy Cooper of Carbondale, Colo.; her two granddaughters, Grace Jean and Sophie Elizabeth Huff; her father, Adam Swidzinski of Butler; her sister, Elaine Westfall of Bozeman, Mont.; her brothers, Jim Swidzinski and his wife, Barb, of Butler, Dan Swidzinski and his wife, Cindy, of West Sunbury and Robert Swidzinski of South Bend, Ind., and many loving nieces and a nephew.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Betty Swidzinski, who passed away in 1986.

COOPER — The friends of Jean Louise Cooper, who passed away Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.The funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday with Pastor Brandon Lenhart of the North Main Street Church of God officiating. Private burial will take place in Butler County Memorial Park.Memorial donations may be made to the Butler Public Library, Children's Department, 218 N.
