Cecil Russell Quinn, 72, of Butler, died Saturday at his home following a strong and courageous battle with cancer. Throughout his battle, Cecil maintained a strong and positive attitude.

He was born in Butler, on March 2, 1940, to the late Cecil W. Quinn and Mary (Lewis) Quinn.

Cecil attended the Fenelton United Methodist Church. He retired from Commonwealth Utility Equipment Co., and then, being the hard-working person that he was, continued part-time employment with Joe Gray doing building renovations in downtown Butler.

Cecil enjoyed fishing, camping, car shows and wood working. His family and friends have many special handmade pieces in their homes which will give them a lifetime of memories. Cecil loved spending time with his grandchildren and proudly teaching them the many skills he learned throughout his lifetime.

He is survived by his loving wife, Linda L. (Ogin) Quinn, with whom he celebrated 50 wonderful years of marriage on May 26, 2012. He also is survived by three daughters and their spouses, Sharon Swartzlander and her husband, John, Brenda Roush and her husband, Dan, and Lisa Miller and her husband, Ken, all of Butler; and four grandchildren, Lauren Mitchell and her husband, Corey, Jocelyn Miller, Tyler Roush and Shane Miller. He also is survived by his nieces, nephews, two great-nieces and one great- nephew.

Cecil will be greatly missed by family members, Leola Ogin,Terry and Mary Rose Ogin, Peg Quinn and Rosie Stephenson. He also will be missed by a special little girl, Rylee Burris.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Donald and Ronald Quinn and two nephews, Greg and Kevin Quinn.

QUINN — Friends of Cecil Russell Quinn, who died Saturday, July 28, 2012, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Sheila Auer of the Fenelton United Methodist Church officiating.The burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery.Memorial donations may be made to the UPMC Cancer Center of Natrona Heights, 1604 Burtner Road, Natrona Heights, PA 15065.Online condolences can be given at www.thompson-miller.com.
