3:50 p.m. Sunday — One person was hurt when a vehicle driven by Sandra Hughes, 66, of Renfrew backed out of a parking space and struck a parked car at the KFC restaurant on Route 8 South.The vehicle hit the passenger side door as Kathyrn Diehl, 64, of Butler was getting out of the car. A police report said Diehl's leg was “pinched” between the door and the frame of her own car. Diehl was treated for minor injuries.5:57 p.m. Saturday — A pickup truck driven by David Morris 41, of Gibsonia rear-ended a car at Meridian and Buttercup roads. After the collision, the pickup crossed the center line and collided with a car driven by Jordan Shoop 24, of Sarver.11:30 a.m. Saturday — A vehicle driven by Nathan Hill, 27, of Butler struck a fire hydrant and then drove through two yards on one side of Thornwood Drive. The vehicle crossed the road and drove through another yard, hitting several ornamental plants and a mailbox.Hill, according to a police report, fled the scene and was gone when officers got there. He was found about two hours later at a home on Thornwood Drive.Police said Hill faces charges for numerous traffic violations.5:13 p.m. Friday — Pickup trucks driven by Rodger Shelatree, 47, of Prospect and Raymond Renwick, 73, of Gibsonia collided at Benbrook Road and Greenwood Drive. Police cited Shelatree for driving with a suspended license, driving with suspended registration and driving without inspection.
1:03 a.m. today — At least one person was hurt in a one-vehicle crash on Hartmann Road. Harmony EMS ambulance was called and took the unidentified driver to UPMC Passavant Cranberry with unknown injuries.Police are investigating but a report was not available this morning.State Police, ButlerMonday — Police charged Jesse James Morgan, 31, of Boyers with drunken driving stemming from a traffic stop at 1:50 a.m. May 13 on Route 422 at the Pilot truck stop in Muddy Creek Township. In addition to driving under the influence, Morgan is charged with driving at an unsafe speed and careless driving.
11:10 p.m. Saturday — Someone threw a rock at a car that Erik W. Martin, 26, of Evans City was driving on Route 258 just north of Old Ash Road in Springfield Township. The rock hit the vehicle and caused a dent.1:52 a.m. Saturday — A suspected drunken driver was seriously injured following a high-speed chase that ended when he crashed his motorcycle at Route 208 and Garrett Road in Springfield Township.The suspect, Steven Krofcheck, 40, of Mercer, was taken to Grove City Medical Center before being transferred to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh with unknown injuries.Police said the chase started when they spotted Krofcheck run a stop sign on Center Church Road at Hodil Road in Pine Township. He would not stop after troopers activated their cruiser's lights and siren.Instead, according to a police report, he accelerated onto Route 208 with speeds in excess of 100 mph. Police said Krofcheck lost control of the cycle when he tried to turn onto Garrett Road and hit a curb.Police said he was thrown off the bike and landed in a grass median between the road and McDonald's restaurant.He is charged with driving under the influence, fleeing or attempting to elude police, speeding, reckless driving, careless driving, not stopping at a stop sign and other traffic violations.12:02 a.m. Saturday — Ten teenagers were caught at an underage drinking party on Schmidt Road in Liberty Township. Police said they went to the house after someone called the state police tip line in Harrisburg.Cited for underage drinking were Alicia A. Feather, 18, Robert J. Lucas Jr., 18, Jenna McMeehan, 18, Courtney L. Miller, 19, Wesley W. Phipps, 18, Garrett R. Weber, 18, and Gabriel B. Weygandt, 18, all of Grove City; Justin J. Shawgo, 18, of Jackson Center; and two 17-year-old boys, who police did not identify.11:08 a.m. June 5 — Twice convicted shoplifter Kelly R. Wolfe, 34, of Grove City was arrested after she was caught allegedly stealing items at the County Market in Pine Township.Wolf was arraigned on a charge of felony retail theft, and placed in Mercer County Jail on $15,000 bail.Normally a summary or misdemeanor offense, retail theft is upgraded to a third-degree felony regardless of the stolen property's value, under state law, when a defendant has at least two prior arrests for the same crime.Court records showed Wolf has a lengthy criminal record that includes a pair of retail theft convictions in 2009, both in Crawford County.3 a.m. May 28 — Bret A. Sonntag, 24, of Grove City was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Interstate 80 in Findley Township.May 24 — An unknown thief stole a cell phone and Apple iPod Touch from the Grove City YMCA in Pine Township. The theft happened between 3 and 4 p.m.
Friday — Police charged a Butler County man for illegally trying to buy a rifle at Triangle Sporting Goods in Perry Township earlier this year.Norman G. Leitholf, 72, of Connoquenessing Township allegedly lied March 5 on federal paperwork required to buy the .22-caliber, pump -action rifle, police said.The defendant is barred by law from possessing any firearm, according to a police report.Leitholf is charged with unsworn falsification to authorities.
