Butler Police4:30 p.m. Wednesday — Julia E. Whitten, 26, of Greensburg, Westmoreland County, was arrested for robbery and retail theft after allegedly shoving a security employee while making off with $144 in stolen merchandise from the Kmart store in Pullman Square.Whitten was seen driving off in a car but employees were able to get the license plate number. Officers found the defendant owns the car, which was tracked down a short time later in the 500 block of McKinley Avenue.Police found Whitten at a house on the block. She voluntarily turned over the stolen merchandise that included clothing and cosmetics, police said. She was arraigned on charges and placed in the Butler County Prison on $2,500 bail.
Butler Twp. Police11:16 p.m. Saturday — Todd Pennington, 40, of Fenelton was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Route 422. Pennington also is charged with speeding, disregarding traffic lanes, making an improper turn and careless driving.2:55 p.m. Thursday — Two girls face charges in connection with a fight at the Butler Senior High School. The girls, who police did not identify, are charged with disorderly conduct and harassment.
State Police, Mercer5:15 p.m. Monday — A detainee at the George Junior Republic juvenile detention center is accused of attacking 36-year-old John L. Armagost of Grove City, who supervises the residents at the facility in Pine Township. The suspect, a 15-year-old boy who police did not identify, is charged with aggravated assault.5:40 a.m. Friday — A car driven by Jerry Spears, 63, of Detroit crashed and rolled over on Interstate 80 in Wolf Creek Township. Police said Spears was cited for careless driving.
State Police, New Castle12:50 p.m. Monday — Vehicles driven by Timothy Burns, no age given, of Portersville and William Powell, no age given, of New Castle collided on Center Church Road in Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County.Monday — An unknown burglar stole two Hewlett-Packard laptop computers, a Hewlett-Packard computer tower and a metal lock box from a home in the 1700 block of Center Church Road in Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County. The break-in happened between 12:20 and 2:30 p.m.
