Frank Walowen Jr., 75, of Butler went to be with the Lord on Thursday.

He was born in Butler on Nov. 2, 1936, a son of Frank Walowen Sr. and Anna Bogdan Walowen.

He was retired from Butler Armco, where he had worked as a combustion mechanic. Frank was a master woodworker and craftsman, had his own sawmill and enjoyed working in his wood shop. He also liked to hunt and fish and enjoyed traveling. He was a wonderful husband and father and loved his grandchildren. He was always happiest when spending time with his family.

A 1954 graduate of Butler High School, he soon after entered the U.S. Navy during the Korean War period, where he served as an aviation structural mechanic and flew on many missions over the Mediterranean Sea.

He will be dearly missed by his loving wife, June L. Jarman Walowen, who he married Dec. 26, 1958.

Additionally, he is survived by five children and their spouses, Andrew (Cindy) Walowen of Butler, Gregory (Abby) Walowen of Chicora, Daniel (Jane) Walowen of Butler, Dennis (Carol) Walowen of Bruin and Tamara Walowen of Butler; 10 grandchildren, Frank (Sarah), April (Jesse), Valerie, Zachary, Rebecca, Alyssa, Matt, Josh, Neil and Jacob; two great-grandchildren, Aiden and Samuel; three sisters, Nellie (Harry) Kuzmenchuk of New Jersey, Olga (Warren) Cochran and Mary Ann Zulick, both of Butler; two brothers, Walter (Lolly) Walowen of Aurora, Colo., and Victor (Shirley) Walowen of Butler.

He was preceded in death by one brother, George Walowen.

<B>WALOWEN</B> — Friends of Frank Walowen Jr., who died Thursday, Jan. 19, 2012, will be received at the <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler, from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. The Rev. Kenneth McDeavitt, pastor of the New Hope Baptist Church, will officiate.Interment will follow at North Side Cemetery, Butler, with military honors by the Honor Guard of the VFW Post 249 of Butler and American Legion Post 778, Lyndora.The family requests that memorial donations be made to the New Hope Baptist Church, 174 Ivywood Road, Saxonburg, PA
