Elizabeth Anne Bock Herbert Pendleton of Butler and Ft. Myers, Fla., took the hand of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Friday and entered eternal life with him.

Elizabeth was born June 20, 1926, in Brownsville to John and Anna Stash Bock and was the last survivor of 13 siblings. Her life was devoted to serving others.

She graduated from St. John’s Nursing School, Class of 1948, in Pittsburgh and began her nursing career. Elizabeth worked at Butler Memorial Hospital and as a private duty nurse. She also served as a volunteer nurse at Lee Memorial Hospital in Ft. Myers, Fla., as an immigrant outreach nurse and helped with the Edison Festival of Lights.

While enjoying retirement in Florida for the past 26 years, Elizabeth was a member of The St. Francis Xavier Catholic Women’s Guild, the Parish Choir, Auxiliary Ft. Myers Knights of Columbus, and was a Eucharistic minister. Elizabeth belonged to the Cape Coral German American Club and reached life member status.

Elizabeth’s love of gardening began when she and her first husband, Paul, came to Butler to visit the Butler Farm Show. They fell in love with Butler and bought a 45-acre farm, where they raised Hereford cattle and farmed many acres of crops. Her vegetables won many blue ribbon awards at the farm show.

She raised AKC Weimaraners and was a true dog lover.

While in Butler, Elizabeth was a member of St. Fidelis for 63 years. As a member of the women’s guild, she held many offices and helped create the famous fish fries. She was a Eucharistic minister, taught CCD, was a cursillista, held office in the Butler DCCW, was a member of the “TABS” Bible study, the Buttercup Garden Club, was a Girl and Boy Scout leader, was a member of AFS (American Field Service) and sponsored exchange student Karmele Larrauri of Caracas, Vene-zuela, who has been like a daughter to her.

She was preceded in death by her first husband of 44 years, Paul S. Herbert of Butler and Ft. Myers, Fla.

She is survived by her second husband of seven years, the beloved Herbert Folsom Pendleton II of Rutherford, N.J., and Ft. Myers, Fla.

Elizabeth was the loving mother of Paul and his wife, Patricia, Herbert of Adams Township; Philip J. Herbert; Mary Anne and her husband, Richard, Pribis;

Elizabeth and her husband, David, Archambault, of Butler; and a daughter-in-law, Len Ramos-Herbert.

She was very proud of her 12 grandchildren, Richard Pribis (married to Ashley) of Monroeville, Dr. Maria Pribis of Stamford, Conn., John Pribis of Pittsburgh, Stephanie Herbert of Arlington, Va., Laura, Elizabeth Eve and Alexandra Herbert of Adams Township, Andrew Archambault of Worcester, Mass., Elizabeth Claire Archambault, Matthew Pribis and Paul Gabriel Herbert of Butler.

In addition to her first husband, she was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Catherine Mary Herbert.

PENDLETON — Friends of Elizabeth Anne Bock Herbert Pendleton, who died Friday, July 22, 2011, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the

Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler.Additional visitation will be held at the St. Fidelis of Sigmaringen Parish Narthex, Meridian, 125 Buttercup Road, Butler, from 9 to 10 a.m. Monday before the Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. The Rev. James Murphy will officiate. Interment will follow at Butler County Memorial Park.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials made to the Butler VNA Inpatient Hospice, 115 Technology Drive, Butler, PA 16001 or to St. Fidelis Church, 125 Buttercup Road, Butler, PA 16001.The Bereavement Committee of St. Fidelis Parish will meet at 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home for a parish vigil service.
