Butler PoliceMonday — A vandal or vandals smeared feces on door handles and tore down at least one sign at the Niagara Bank branch on Center Avenue.The feces was found on doors and in key holes, according to a police report. A “No Loitering” sign near the back door was ripped down. Someone also tried to tear down other metal “No Skateboarding” signs near the automated teller machine in back.The vandalism happened between Saturday and Monday.Monday — Police charged Robert Christopher James Best, 24, of Lyndora with drugged driving stemming from a 2:07 a.m. May 24 traffic stop on Pillow Street. In addition to driving under the influence of a controlled substance, Best is charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana and driving with no rear lights.12:16 a.m. Saturday — Oscar R. Sasse, Jr., 40, of Butler was arrested for driving under the influence on West Jefferson Street. Police also charged Sasse with driving with a suspended license and unauthorized use of a vehicle.
Butler Twp Police6:14 p.m. Sunday — Courtney Ann Miller, 28, of Butler is accused of swiping $152 in merchandise from the Wal-Mart in Butler Commons. Miller is charged with retail theft and receiving stolen property.4:43 a.m. Sunday — Dennis Dubetsky, no age given, of Nicktown, Cambria County, swerved his vehicle to avoid a deer and crashed into a guardrail on Route 422 west of the Jefferson Street interchange. The vehicle was towing an 18-foot boat, which was dislodged from a trailer and ended on the road.Meridian volunteer firefighters assisted at the scene.9:03 p.m. Friday — Vehicles driven by Aaron Connor, 20, of Rimersburg, Clarion County, and Stephen Freeman, 55, of Butler collided at Route 8 and Litman Road. Police said Connor was cited for making an improper lane change.
Grove City PoliceFriday — Benjamin Paul Enis, 23, of Grove City allegedly made repeated threats to 19-year-old William D. Williamson of Grove City. Enis is charged with stalking, terroristic threats and harassment.Police, meanwhile, charged Williamson with simple assault and disorderly conduct stemming from a fight on the Chestnut Street Bridge about 12:10 p.m. June 22.June 21—A brown, multipurpose knife, blue lunch bag and 20 cassette tapes were stolen from a vehicle parked at 402 N. Broad St. The theft happened between 9 a.m. June 18 and 2:30 p.m. June 21.
State Police, Butler12:42 p.m. Monday — A car driven by Joan M. Newell, 78, of Renfrew crashed into a sport utility vehicle that was stopped at a red light at Route 68 and Whitestown Road in Connoquenessing Township. The wreck forced the SUV, driven by Nancy Antill, 72, of Renfrew, into a car driven by Christopher S. Gensler, 42, of Mercer. Gensler was stopped at the same red light. Police said Newell was cited for driving at an unsafe speed.11:11 p.m. June 21 — A car driven by Douglas R. Swanson, 21, of Greenville, Mercer County, ran off Route 8 near Ralston Road and struck a culvert in Slippery Rock Township. Police said Swanson was cited for careless driving.11:15 p.m. June 16 — David Davenport, 40, of Butler was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after he crashed his car at the McDonald’s restaurant drive-through in Center Township.
State Police, Mercer4:35 p.m. Thursday — A pickup truck driven by Greg P. Bayly, 50, of Pittsburgh crashed into a tree along Route 208 at Georgetown Road in Pine Township. Bayly was trapped inside the pickup and had to be rescued by the volunteer firefighters with the Pine Township Engine Company.Bayly, who was not wearing a seat belt, was taken to Grove City Medical Center with moderate injuries. Police said he was cited for driving at an unsafe speed.
