2:10 a.m. Tuesday — A car driven by Larisa Hespenheide, 21, of Summit Township struck a car parked on West Fulton Street. Hespenheide did not immediately stop after the accident. She was cited for hit-and-run.
8:32 p.m. Monday — John Baranchak Jr., 46, of Butler was arrested after a domestic dispute at his home. Baranchak is charged with simple assault and harassment. He is free on $5,000 unsecured bail.9:55 a.m. Saturday — An Armstrong County woman was arrested on charges she tried to obtain prescription drugs after claiming to be with a doctor's office and using a false name for the prescription.Heather McCrorey, 30, of Kittanning also used a bogus name when confronted by police at the pharmacy. While in the presence of a 9-year-old boy, she acted up and damaged property inside the store.McCrorey is charged with forgery, identity theft, attempted fraudulent acquisition of a controlled substance, corruption of minors, child endangerment, impersonating the holder of professional or occupational license, resisting arrest, false identification to law enforcement authorities, criminal mischief and driving with a suspended license.Additionally, McCrorey is wanted on a fugitive warrant from Kansas. She is in the Butler County Prison on $20,000 bail.
Tuesday — Police obtained arrest warrants for a suspected serial burglar accused of breaking in a dozen business in the borough last year.Robert J. Rall II, 27, of Grove City is accused of breaking into 12 businesses between Feb. 24 and Nov. 1, 2010. Rall stole money, merchandise and software equipment in the break-ins. He is charged with 12 counts of burglary.
9:52 p.m. Monday — William M. Morris, 47, of Slippery Rock was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after his car rear ended a vehicle on Dick Road in Connoquenessing Township. Morris also faces tickets for careless driving and driving at an unsafe speed. Pamela J. Huff, 44, of Butler was the other driver.7:55 p.m. Monday — A car driven by Rheannon K. Yuscinsky, 31, of Tonawanda, N.Y., struck a deer on Interstate 79 in Lancaster Township.5:15 p.m. Monday — A man posing as a customer pulled a quick-change scam at the Eat-n-Park restaurant in the Clearview Mall, Center Township.The man, described as a heavy-set black man about 6 feet tall, bought a bakery item and then tricked the cashier into giving him more change than he deserved. The thief, who made off with $144, was driving a newer model, black minivan.Monday — An unknown vandal damaged a mailbox along Kaiser Road in Summit Township. Damage from the vandalism on Sunday or Monday is estimated at $100.2 p.m. Sunday — An unidentified white vehicle struck a car parked on the side of Route 108 in Worth Township. The unknown driver did not stop. Anyone with information about the hit-and-run crash is asked to call police at 724-284-8100.May 20 — A would be scrap metal thief cut a 3-inch steel pipe at Redmill Drilling on Stoney Hollow Road in Winfield Township. The pipe contained an active, 2-inch plastic gas line. The culprit fled empty-handed but not before cutting into the gas line.
7:15 p.m. Monday — Charles Turney, 18, of Worthington was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after his truck drove over an embankment and struck a tree along Bottom Creek Road in West Franklin Township.
May 23 — Police arrested Gerald R. Diefenderfer, 53, of Hermitage in connection with a rifle he allegedly took May 20 or 21 from a Stoneboro Road home in Wolf Creek Township. Diefenderfer is charged with theft. He is free on $15,000 unsecured bail.10:55 a.m. May 22 — A car driven by Cynthia A. Walsh, 49, of Grove City struck a deer on Route 58 just east of Interstate 79 in Findley Township.
11:30 p.m. Saturday — An Army deserter was arrested after police got a call about a suspicious car near the Windmere Estates trailer park on Frew Mill Road in Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County.Troopers stopped the car and checked on the occupant, Ethen David Main, 20, of Ellwood City. A warrant check found he was wanted for deserting Fort Campbell in Kentucky in 2009.Main was placed in the Lawrence County Jail on the felony warrant for military desertion. There is no bail for that offense. Main will remain jailed until the Army takes him back to Fort Campbell.
