5:54 p.m. Sunday — Two people were hurt when cars driven by Crystal Pakutz, 17, of Butler and Ruth Nebel, 71, of Chicora collided at Brady and North Monroe streets.Nebel and Raylene Claypool, 18, of Butler, a passenger in Pakutz's car, suffered minor injuries. Claypool was treated at Butler Memorial Hospital. Police said Pakutz was cited for a traffic light violation.

2:05 a.m. Sunday — Richard John Fry, 50, of Butler was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Route 38 just south of Pine Tract Road in Center Township.2:50 a.m. Sunday — Dawn I. Best, 33, of Eau Claire was hurt when the car she was driving struck a guardrail and embankment before overturning and landing on its roof on Route 268 in Allegheny Township. Police said Best, who suffered unknown injuries, was cited for a lane violation.2:35 p.m. Friday — A pickup truck driven by Matthew B. Ford, 22, of Warren, Ohio, struck the rear of a car on Route 488 at the Interstate 79 on-ramp. Police said Ford was cited for following too closely to another vehicle. Kelly Hribar, 26, of Pittsburgh was driving the car.Friday — A cash register containing $200 was stolen in a burglary between midnight and 1 a.m. at Sting Ray's Tanning Salon on Route 108 in Slippery Rock.Friday — An unknown identity thief used a Fenelton man's bank debit card information to make $933 in fraudulent transactions in and around Houston, Texas, between Wednesday and Friday.Friday — A would-be thief tried to pry open the door of a car parked at the owner's Club House Road home in Forward Township. The vehicle sustained scrapes on the driver's side door in the attempted theft between June 30 and Friday.11:22 p.m. Thursday — Police said Briana F. Reed, 25, of Parker faces three traffic tickets after the sport utility vehicle she was driving struck a tree, spun around and hit a second tree along Branchton Road in Washington Township.She told police she lost control of her SUV when she swerved to avoid a deer on the road.Among the alleged violations was disregarding traffic lanes, failing to immediately notify police of an accident and not wearing a seat belt.4:21 a.m. Thursday — Ashley M. Jacobson, 28, of Pittsburgh was arrested for DUI after his car struck a pole at a weigh station on I-79 in Cranberry Township. Police said Jacobson was cited for a lane violation.

2:40 a.m. Saturday — Judd A. Jack, 28, of Emlenton was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after his sport utility vehicle crashed and rolled on Airport Road in Richland Township.

1:40 p.m. Friday — A 17-year-old boy was arrested after allegedly threatening Sharon Smouse of Worthington with a knife on Cherry Street in Worthington.But arresting the youth, who ran into nearby cornfields, was no easy chore.Following a large-scale search that employed a police helicopter, scent-detecting canine and numerous troopers and police from local departments, the suspect was found buried under corn stalks and dirt.Police did not identify the boy, who is charged with aggravated assault, simple assault and resisting arrest.

8:37 a.m. Friday — A dump truck driven by Donald W. Smith, 21, of Ellwood City struck the rear of a car at Route 422 and McConnells Mill Road in Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County. Police said Smith was cited for following too closely to another vehicle. Joseph R. Westcott was driving the car.10:45 p.m. Thursday — A car driven by Robert J. Buck, 41, of Boyers struck an embankment and rolled onto its roof on Route 108 near Michigan Street in North Beaver Township.July 20 — Two New Castle women had their purses taken from an unlocked car on Frew Mill Road at Kennedy's Mill Bridge in Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County.
