8:39 a.m. Wednesday — One person was hurt when a sport utility vehicle and a car collided at East Walnut and North Cliff streets.Joel Fobes, 27, of Butler was trapped inside the car he was driving. Butler firefighters had to rescue Fobes, who was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with moderate injuries.Police said the crash happened when the SUV that Joseph Babinsack Jr., 42, of Butler was driving hit the driver's side door of the car.
9:09 a.m. Thursday — Miscellaneous hunting equipment and items were found in a business parking lot on Hansen Avenue. The owner can claim the property at the police station at 290 S. Duffy Road.Thursday — Police charged Austin M. Rottman, 18, of Butler Township with criminal mischief for allegedly using a BB gun to shoot out two windows at the Goodwill Store on New Castle Road two weeks ago.Rottman, according to court documents, was interviewed Wednesday and admitted to the shooting just after 6:30 a.m. July 8. Damage was set at $530.A police affidavit included the apparent motive: "He said his friends dared him, so he did."11:17 p.m. Wednesday — Travis Oday, 37, of Butler was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Whitestown Road. Oday also was cited for speeding and driving on the wrong side of the road.5:47 p.m. Wednesday — Forrest Thompson, 23, of Butler was cited for trespassing after AK Steel security staff found him on the railroad tracks inside the plant.Wednesday — Police charged Matthew G. King, 27, of Butler with drunken driving stemming from a traffic stop at 1:50 a.m. June 27 at Route 8 and Evans Road. In addition to DUI, King is charged with speeding and making an illegal U-turn
10 a.m. Thursday — Robert W. Budmark, 35, of Butler is accused of allegedly assaulting 30-year-old Tina Daniels during an argument on West Sunbury Road in Cherry Township. Budmark is charged with simple assault and harassment.2:15 a.m. Thursday — Patrick T. Hill, no age given, of Cabot was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Route 68 just south of Gameland Road in Donegal Township.Tuesday — An unknown burglar made off with jewelry, a watch and handgun from an Old East Route 422 home in Clearfield Township.Among the items taken in the break-in between Saturday and Tuesday was a mother's ring with sapphire, diamond and topaz gems; size 5 gold wedding band and blue sapphire ring,; diamond earrings; and a men's gold chain.Also stolen was a men's Elgin watch and an Intratec AB-10 9 mm pistol.Monday — Someone removed a wooden gate from a barn door in Forward Township, allowing Valerie Rebel's horses to get out. The criminal horseplay on Brownsdale Road happened between 10 p.m. Sunday and 8 p.m. Monday.1:52 p.m. Sunday — Mitchell L. Schaffner, 48, of Hlliards was hurt when the all-terrain vehicle he was driving crashed and rolled over on Cemetery Road in Venango Township. A medical helicopter flew Schaffner to UPMC Presbyterian in Pittsburgh with moderate injuries.Police said Schaffner, who was wearing a helmet, was cited for operating an ATV on a street, driving at an unsafe speed and driving with an expired license.
Thursday — Two computers owned by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation were among the property stolen from a work trailer on Ford City road near Duffy road in North Buffalo Township. The theft happened between 6 p.m. Wednesday and 6:10 a.m. Thursday.
9:45 p.m. Wednesday — A young man was hurt when an unidentified vehicle struck the back of a bicycle he was riding on Route 62 about one-half mile south of Dean Road in Sandy Lake Township. The driver did not stop after the crash.The bicyclist, Joseph W. Cole, 18, of Jamestown, was thrown off the 20-inch bike that was not equipped with headlights or rear reflectors. Cole was taken to Greenville Regional Hospital with minor injuries.Police said Cole was cited for riding a bike at night without lights.
