Phyllis C. Fredette, 88, formerly of South Duffy Road, Butler, died May 3 at Providence Care Center in Beaver Falls.

Born March 5, 1922, in New Castle, she was a daughter of the late Phillip and Mae (Snyder) Chamberlain.

She was a member of St. Fidelis Roman Catholic Church in Meridian.

Mrs. Fredette, a homemaker, was a 1940 graduate of New Castle High School and a graduate of New Castle Business School.

Phyllis enjoyed gardening, cross-stitch and collecting Hummels, and she was 50-year member of her card club, where she played 500.

Surviving are her husband, Oscar R. Fredette, who she married Nov. 1, 1947; three daughters, Lillian L. Kemper of Daphne, Ala., Jeanne M. Kemper of Lyndora and Mary C. Stover of Minneapolis, Kan.; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

As the last surviving member of her immediate family, she was preceded in death by her three sisters and two brothers.

Fredette, who died Monday, May 3, 2010, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 15, at St. Fidelis Roman Catholic Church, 303 Penn Ave., Lyndora.
