John A. Hunter, 83, of Karns City passed away Sunday at his home.

He was born April 19, 1927, in Pittsburgh, the son of the late John A. Hunter Sr. and the late Bessie M. (Yaste) Hunter.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge 714 and the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite of Pittsburgh.

He was a Navy Veteran of World War II.

He enjoyed fishing.

Surviving are two sons, Jack Hunter of Dover, Del., and Fred Hunter of Columbia, Mo; three grandsons; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Alyce L. Hunter, who died July 14, 2007, and a sister.
