Donald W. Unger, 80, of Hilliards, formerly of Mount Washington, passed away April 30.

Born Jan. 27, 1930, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of George Ralph Unger and Edith (Hobday) Unger.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He formerly owned his own construction business for 30 years, and he also managed the William Penn Hotel and was a chef.

He enjoyed woodworking (fret work), gardening and gourmet cooking.

He was married to Janet A. (Hamiliton) Unger, who died Feb. 2, 2010, for 53 years.

Donald is survived by three children, Donald W. of Philadelphia, Philip K. (Valerie (Joswiak)) Unger of West Sunbury and Ann L. Unger of Hilliards; two grandchildren, Angela Kroha of West Sunbury and Michael Unger of Erie; one great-grandchild, Alicia Lostetter of West Sunbury; two sisters, Theresa Hirko and Betty Fortner of Florida; and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and two brothers.
