Bette J. Clouse, 83, formerly of 87 Main St., Rimersburg, died at 4 a.m. Saturday at the Alle-Kiski Medical Center in Natrona Heights.

Born July 26, 1926, in Toby Township, Clarion County, she was the daughter of W. Bruce and Pauline Womeldorf Hankey.

Bette graduated from Rimersburg High School in 1944, and she worked for a number of years at the former A&P Grocery Store in Rimersburg.

She was married Oct. 10, 1947, to James O. Clouse, who died April 29, 2004.

Bette attended the Lawsonham United Methodist Church and was a member of the Order of Eastern Star in Clarion. She enjoyed shopping, traveling and reading. She also served on the board of directors and as an EMT for the Southern Clarion County Ambulance Service for several years.

She is survived by two sons, James C. Clouse and his wife, Dawn, of Pleasant Gap, and Jeffrey B. Clouse and his wife, Susan, of Natrona Heights; two grandsons, Jason Clouse and his wife, Sharon, of Corinth, Texas, and Matthew Clouse and his wife, Angela, of Denton, Texas; five granddaughters, Jaime Watt and her husband, Kevin, of Annapolis, Md., Carly Schneck and her husband, Mike, of Williamsport, Amanda Clouse of State College, Jill Coon and her husband, Jason, of Mount Wolf, and Jarie Clouse of Pittsburgh; and nine great-grandchildren, Kevin, Reilly and Regan Clouse, Brody and Payton Clouse, Reese and Bryce Watt, Mason Schneck and Alexa Coon.

She also is survived by two brothers and their wives, Ronald and Nancy Hankey of Grove City and Ray and Etta Hankey of Meridian; and a sister-in-law Margie Kingan of Butler.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by brother, Craig Hankey.

<B>CLOUSE </B>— The family of Bette J. Clouse, who died Saturday, April 10, 2010, will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the <B>Varner Funeral Home </B>of Rimersburg. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Ronald Hankey, a retired Methodist minister and Bette's brother, officiating. Interment will follow in the Rimersburg Cemetery.The family suggests that memorials be made to the Rimersburg Cemetery Association.
