Virginia M. Brown, 89, formerly of Butler, died March 29 at the Pristine Pines Assisted Living Home in Sewickley. She also had lived in Venice, Fla., for 28 years before returning to the Butler area.

She was born May 13, 1920, a daughter of the late Frank and Myrtle Ida Wick DeMar.

She was the widow of Dr. James W. Brown, M.D., a former ophthalmologist in Butler. He preceded her in death on April 12, 1982.

Virginia was a homemaker, mother and grandmother and had formerly worked as an office assistant and receptionist in her husband's medical office.

She was a member of St. Ferdinand Roman Catholic Church in Cranberry Township and a former member of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church in Butler.

Surviving are her son, Edward L. Riefer of Cranberry Township; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, and three nephews, Jim, Jack and Bob Chiprean.

<B>BROWN </B>— Friends and family of Virginia M. Brown, who died Monday March 29, 2010, will be received from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 17, at the <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler. Funeral services will be at noon at the funeral home. Inurnment will follow at the Calvary Cemetery.
