Edson H. "Ed" Morrison, 62, of Karns City, formerly of Clarion, went home to his Lord at 6:30 a.m. Thursday at the Clarion Hospital.

Born Jan. 21, 1948, in Detroit, he was the son of the late Edson H. Morrison Sr. and Jean Heasley Morrison, who survives in Clarion.

Ed was a graduate of Clarion High School and Clarion University. He taught mathematics at both the Clarion-Limestone School District and the Moniteau School District and just recently retired from the Department of Environmental Protection in New Castle.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam era.

Ed was a member and past master of Parker-Allegheny Valley Lodge 521, F&AM, where he also served as secretary for some time and also a member of the New Castle Consistory.

Hunting was his passion. He held memberships in the Safari Club International and the North American Hunting Club, and he was a life member of the National Rifle Association. He hunted in Alaska, Quebec, British Columbia, Africa, Colorado and Kansas. He also enjoyed woodworking, gardening and computers.

He was a member of the former Whitestone Christian Fellowship Church.

On June 13, 1970, he married Carol A. Pfeifer, and she survives. Also surviving are two sons, U.S. Army Maj. John E. Morrison and his wife, Sarah, of Aberdeen Proving Ground, Md., and Dr. Eric J. Morrison and his wife, Melissa, of Cornelius, N.C.; two granddaughters, Grace of Aberdeen, Md., and Kathryn of Cornelius, N.C.; one sister, Sandra M. McEntire and her husband, David, of Knox; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Ed was preceded in death by his father on Sept. 13, 2000.

<B>MORRISON </B>— The family of Edson H. "Ed" Morrison, who died Thursday, April 8, 2010, will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the <B>David C. McEntire Funeral Home</B>, 504 E. Penn St., Knox. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the funeral home with the Rev. Mark Carpenter, pastor of Fellowship Baptist Church near Emlenton, officiating. Interment, with full military honors accorded by Berlin-Bowser American Legion Post 720 of Knox, will follow in Clarion Cemetery.The family suggests memorials be made to Fellowship Baptist Church, 3727 Oneida Valley Road, Emlenton, 16373; or Christ Presbyterian Church, 115 W. Hunt Drive, Grove City, 16127.
