James M. Scott, 21, of Bayville, N.J., died Sunday at the Community Medical Center, Toms River, N.J.

Born in San Narciso, Zambales, Philippines, he lived in Colts Neck, N.J., before moving to Bayville in 2005.

James attended PTP of San Marcelino in the Philippines, majoring in electronic technology.

In 2001, James started a scholarship fund for underprivileged children attending Zambales Academy and raised money for the school. In 2010, he helped raise funds for Filipino typhoon victims.

James was a kind-hearted man who loved to help others. He will be dearly missed by all.

James was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Clifford D. Scott Sr.

He is survived by his parents, Clifford Jr., who retired from the U.S. Navy, and Glenda Scott, and a brother David, all of Bayville, N.J. He also is survived by his fiancee, Mercy Custodio; his paternal grandmother, Marie Scott of East Butler; his maternal grandparents, Paquito and Divina Famanilay of the Philippines; his great-grandmother, Pilar Fontillas; and many aunts, uncles and cousins of East Butler and the Philippines.
