Carl J. Ihlenfeld
Carl J. Ihlenfeld, 99, of Maryville, Tenn., departed this life Friday at the Blount Memorial Transitional Care Center, Maryville.
A native of Butler, he was a retired meteorologist with the National Weather Service.
He was a veteran of World War II, having served in North Africa and Italy from 1941 to 1945.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl J. and Naomi Kelly Ihlenfeld; his stepmother, Janet Reno Ihlenfeld; brothers, Richard, Robert and John Ihlenfeld; stepbrother, William Reno; sisters, Janet Schnitzer and Ruth Murphey; and daughter-in-law, Elaine Ihlenfeld.
Survivors are his wife of 60 years, Sara "Sally" Ihlenfeld; sons, Jim of Spring Hill, Tenn., and Bruce of Maryville; a daughter-in-law, Maxine Ihlenfeld; granddaughters, Sara Ogle and Laura Ferguson; and great-granddaughter, Cadence Ogle.
In his spare time, Mr. Ihlenfeld was an avid woodworker.
He was a longtime member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Maryville.
