Squirrel causes power outage in city
Allegheny Power reported the death of a squirrel Tuesday afternoon.
The rodent's body was found inside a transformer on West Walnut Street in Butler, said power company spokesman Jeff Straight.
The "accident" caused a power outage for 456 Allegheny Power customers for several hours.
The city's Public Safety Building switched to a generator to power the police and fire departments, and no problems were encountered.
Some schools within the city were affected, but Butler Superintendent Ed Fink said there were no real problems.
Butler Memorial Hospital was not in the affected area.
