2 p.m. Sunday — Two people were hurt when a car driven by Jane Phillips, 79, of San Antonio, Texas ran into the back of a minivan on North Main Street. Phillips told police the crash occurred after she blacked out due to a medical condition.Phillips and 10-year-old Jessica Abriola, a passenger in the van driven by Mark Abriola, 43, of Allison Park, Allegheny County, suffered minor injuries.1:47 a.m. Sunday — Jeremy W. Green, 31, of Butler was arrested for driving under the influence on East Jefferson Street. Police said Green also was cited for a lane violation.
Sunday — A Barnett RC-150 crossbow was reported stolen from a garage in a burglary at a Whitestown Road home.Sunday — Katherine Elmadollar, 28, of Petrolia is accused of taking merchandise at the Wal-Mart in Butler Commons. Police said Elmadollar, who works at the store, is charged with retail theft.8:10 a.m. Saturday — Two stereos were stolen from a pair of vehicles in the driveway of a Young Avenue home. Police said the unknown thief also damaged the interior of the vehicles.4:35 a.m. Saturday — A car driven by Heather Spangler, 22, of Renfrew crashed over an embankment on Old Plank Road across from McQuistion Road. Police found the car but the driver, later identified as Spangler, was gone.Spangler later that day reported the crash to police, claiming that she lost control of the car after swerving to avoid a deer. Police said she is charged with failing to immediately notify police of the accident.12:30 p.m. Saturday — A Wii game system was reported stolen in a burglary at a house on South Home Avenue home.10:50 p.m. Friday — Three people were hurt when Stephen Trufley, 65, of Butler swerved his pickup truck to avoid a collision with another vehicle, and struck an embankment on Route 422 near Heinz Road.Greenwood Village and Mercer Road volunteer firefighters were called, and helped to free Trufley from the wrecked pickup. Two girls who were riding in the truck were able to get out. All three occupants were taken to Butler Memorial Hospital.Police said Trufley suffered moderate head injuries, one of the girls suffered facial cuts and the other had an arm injury.The crash closed the westbound lane for about an hour. Police said they could not find the vehicle that cut off Trufley and caused the accident.3:15 p.m. Friday — Three men are accused in a scheme in which they allegedly returned merchandise stolen from the Lowe's store at Moraine Pointe Plaza, in exchange for gift cards.Charged with theft by deception, retail theft and receiving stolen property are Steven Cline, 21, of Lyndora, and Travis Hilliard, 22, and Nicholas Oesterling, 25, both of Butler.8:35 a.m. Friday — Someone in a green, 1999 Oldsmobile sedan threw an object at another vehicle on Route 422. Sal Custer of Ohio told police the object broke his front driver's side window. He told police that the green car had the Pennsylvania license plate EKR-2123. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-285-9600.
6:15 p.m. Sunday — A pickup truck driven by Stephen Lipnichan, 26, of Pittsburgh collided with a car on Route 28 in North Buffalo Township. Lipnichan and the other driver, Richard Hines, 24, of New Kensington, Westmoreland County, suffered minor injuries. Police said Lipnichan was cited for an undisclosed traffic violation.6:30 p.m. Saturday — A car driven by Bridget A. Cox, 23, of Lyndora crashed into a utility pole along Route 28 near Poverty Hill Road in Rayburn Township. Police said Cox was cited for a lane violation.
