12:54 a.m. Sunday — Melissa Wickline, 23, of Indiana, Pa., was arrested for driving under the influence on North Monroe Street. Police said Wickline also was cited for making an illegal left turn.Sunday — Kevin Verheyen reported that someone broke into a van and stole $375 from the locked vehicle parked in the driveway of his Garfield Avenue home. The theft occurred between 3:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.Sunday — Beth Yost reported that her daughter's purple bicycle was stolen from the porch of the family's Wallula Avenue home. The bike, valued at $50, was taken between noon Saturday and noon Sunday.
Saturday — Two people were arrested for driving under the influence during a weekend roving patrol conducted in the county. Twenty-two vehicles were stopped and, in addition to the DUI arrests, six traffic tickets and 18 warnings were issued.
Sunday — A 2000 Yamaha dirt bike was stolen from the Marburger Road home of Daniel Slingluff in Forward Township. The 125 cc bike, which is valued at $3,000, was taken between Wednesday and Sunday.Sunday — Three boxes of chocolate candy were stolen in a burglary at the softball field concession stand at Laura J. Doerr Memorial Park in Jefferson Township. The break-in occurred between 6:30 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. Sunday. The Saxonburg Girl's Softball Association owns the stolen property.9:03 p.m. Saturday — Robert E. King, 74, of Butler was hurt when the vehicle he was driving crashed into a tree along Grindel Road in Franklin Township. Police said King, who suffered minor injuries, was cited for driving too fast for conditions.3:30 p.m. Saturday — Scott Frances-William Martin, 18, of Clearfield Township is accused of assaulting a 22-year-oldButler man and an 18-year-old woman during an altercation near the woman's Roads End Lane home in Center Township.2:45 p.m. Saturday — Shawn Anthony McNamee, 32, of Portersville is accused of throwing a bottle from his vehicle at another vehicle traveling on Route 19 in Muddy Creek Township. The bottle hit and damaged Maury Frankel's car; however, Frankel, 56, of Cheswick, Allegheny County, was not injured.Police said McNamee faces charges for propulsion of missiles, criminal mischief, disorderly conduct and scattering rubbish.Saturday — Audrey D. Hepp, 34, of Cherry Township was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after her vehicle crashed into a ditch along Route 8 near Muddy Creek Road in Center Township.Police said Hepp also was cited for driving too fast for conditions.7:34 p.m. Friday — A Harmony man was seriously injured when the minivan he was riding in crashed and rolled over several times, hitting trees along Pfeifer Road near Sawyer Road in Muddy Creek Township.Benjamin W. Roberts, 26, who was thrown out of the van, was taken to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh; his condition was not known this morning.Roberts was a passenger in the van that Todd R. Bennet, 41, of Portersville was driving. Police said Bennet, who suffered unknown injuries, fled the crash site before troopers arrived. He faces a number of charges in the crash, according to a police report.3:44 p.m. Friday — A sport utility vehicle driven by Michael E. Webb, 39, of Butler struck a utility pole along Unionville Road in Franklin Township. Police said Webb, who was taken with unknown injuries to Butler Memorial Hospital, was cited for driving too fast for conditions.12:05 p.m. Friday — An unidentified Ford F-150 pickup truck sideswiped another pickup that was occupied and parked on Route 268 in Parker, Armstrong County, and did not stop after the crash. Susan Beer of Parker owns the pickup that was struck.6:50 p.m. Thursday — Robert David Robinson, 65, of Butler was cited for trespassing after allegedly parking a trailer along West Old Route 422 in Franklin Township. Robinson parked the trailer there even after the property owner warned him not to do so, a police report said.9:30 p.m. Wednesday — An unknown vandal drove through corn and alfalfa fields on Campland Road in Mercer township, destroying an unspecified amount of crops owned by Paul Critchlow.6:40 p.m. Sept. 21—Two 17-year-old boys are accused of assaulting a pair of staff members at the Summit Academy reform school in Summit Township. The boys, who police did not identify, face felony assault charges in Butler County juvenile court.2:20 p.m. Sept. 15 — Rodney W. Kriess, 36, of Butler was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after a hit-and-run crash on Herman Road in Summit Township.Kriess is accused of failing to stop after his pickup hit several mailboxes along the road. Several witnesses saw the incident and followed the suspect while calling police.Police said Kriess, in addition to DUI, faces charges for possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, reckless driving, accidents involving damaged to unattended property, failing to stop after an accident and failing to immediately notify police of an accident.
11:07 p.m. Thursday — Larry Simpson, 68, of Parker was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Route 368 near Keefer Road in Perry Township.
7 a.m. Saturday — Acar driven by a 17-year-old Worthington boy, who police did not identify, crashed into an embankment and rolled onto its side on Craigsville Road in West Franklin Township.Tuesday — A Pioneer 760-amp amplifier and a Lighting 10-inch audio woofer were stolen between 4:30 p.m. Sept. 22 and 8 a.m. Tuesday from a Templeton man's car parked at Charapp Dodge on Route 422 in Kittanning Township.Police said the unknown thief used a cinder block to smash out a rear hatch window and get inside the car, which sustained about $300 in damage. The stolen property is estimated at $400.
Sept. 20 — About 120 feet of conductor wire was stolen from two poles at Verizon-owned property on Airport Road between Route 173 and North Liberty Road in Liberty Township. The theft occurred Sept. 19 or 20.
