BUTLER AREA MIDGET FOOTBALL LEAGUE
Sean Hembree scored on a 1-yard run on Penn Street's first possession Saturday as the Cardinals remained unbeaten with a 26-7 win over East Side in Butler Area Midget Football League play.
ATim Butler interception set up Penn Street's next score, a 63-yard touchdown pass from Shayne Wilbert to Keenan Barlow. Hembree caught the conversion pass. Christian Manning returned an interception 65 yards for the third Cardinal touchdown.
Butler scored on a 3-yard run for Penn Street (3-0) before East Side (1-2) got on the board on Tyler Widenhofer's 4-yard run.
East Butler 8, South Butler 0 — The lone touchdown of the game was a 42-yard run by Robby Dingel in the third quarter. Dingel added the two-point conversion kick for East Butler (2-1).South Butler (0-3) drove inside the Bulldogs' 20-yard line in the fourth quarter, but could not score.
Center Township 13, Meridian 6 — Kolby Kriese concluded the Rams' first series with an 8-yard touchdown run, but Meridian (1-2) tied the score on Jacob Olenick's 6-yard run.Center Township (2-1) won with a third quarter 1-yard run by Ryan Hannon.Meridian plays East Side at 7 p.m. today. On Saturday, it's Penn Street vs. East Butler at 5:30 p.m., South Butler vs. Center Township at 7.
