6:56 p.m. Thursday — William Edwin Renner Jr., 54, of Butler was arrested for driving under the influence following a hit-and-run crash at Monroe and Locust streets.Renner's car struck a vehicle driven by Eric Warheit, 44, of Butler, and then Renner drove away; the suspect was later stopped on College Street. In addition to DUI, Renner is charged with causing an accident involving damage to an attended vehicle and a stop sign violation.6:35 p.m. Thursday — Cars driven by Billy Hunter, 29, of Clarion and John Bradley, 52, of Canoga Park, Calif., collided on Route 8 near Roosevelt Boulevard. Bradley and a passenger in his car, Charmaine Bradley, 56, also of Canoga Park, were treated at Butler Memorial Hospital for unknown injuries.Police said Hunter, who suffered minor injuries, was cited for careless driving.
Thursday — One person was arrested for driving under the influence and 14 traffic tickets were issued during roving DUI patrols throughout the county. Police said 54 vehicles were stopped during the patrols. Officers also wrote 50 warnings to motorists.
Noon Sunday — A car driven by Helen Louise Hickey, 72, of Butler crashed into a tree along Route 68 near Seven Hills Road in Oakland Township. Hickey, who suffered minor injuries, was cited for a lane violation.3:55 a.m. Sunday — Terry Kiel, 29, of Zelienople was seriously injured when the all-terrain vehicle he was driving crashed on Welsh Road near Shannon Road in Connoquenessing Township.Keil, who was not wearing a helmet, was thrown off the ATV. Amedical helicopter flew Keil to Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh following the crash; his condition was not known this morning.2:15 a.m. Sunday — Dean F. Marlin, 62, of Aspinwall, Allegheny County, was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Route 8 near Benbrook Road in Center Township.Saturday — Police did not say if any property was taken in a burglary between 10 a.m. and 2:45 p.m. at the Driftwood Drive home of James R. Cooper in Jefferson Township.Saturday — A car windshield was smashed and a camper trailer window was also broken on Grosvenor Avenue in Center Township. The vandalism occurred between 10:15 p.m. Friday and 10 p.m. Saturday.6:49 p.m. Saturday — Mark S. Smith, 55, of Allison Park, Allegheny County, was arrested for suspicion of DUI on Route 422 in Muddy Creek Township.5:10 p.m. Friday — A car driven by Michael F. Walters, 52, of Tarentum, Allegheny County, and a sport utility vehicle driven by Mark Stallsmith, 41, of Saxonburg collided on Route 356 in Jefferson Township. Police said Walters was cited for failure to yield the right of way.12:55 a.m. Friday — Five people are accused of underage drinking on Maharg Road in Penn Township. Cited were Victoria Fuellgraf, 18, Brittny Macklin, 19, Jacob Pflugh, 19, Kelsey Ray, 18, and Melissa Walter, 18, all of Butler.Friday — An unknown burglar stole savings bonds and old coins from a Watters Station Road home in Forward Township. The break-in occurred between July 1 and Friday.Wednesday — A set of curtains was damaged during a burglary at the Keister Road home of Ronald Cokain in Slippery Rock Township. Damage was estimated at $450. Police did not immediately say if any property was taken in the break-in between July 25 and Wednesday.July 23 — Mark Eugene Rowe, no age given, of Saxonburg was arrested for assaulting Patricia Lechance of Saxonburg during an argument at Rowe's Tavern on Main Street in Saxonburg. Lechance was treated at Butler Memorial Hospital for unknown injuries. Police said Rowe is charged with simple assault.July 14 — A tan dishwasher and several pieces of steel and aluminum scrap were stolen between May 1 and July 14 on Kelly Road in Muddy Creek Township. Patricia Belle King of Butler owns the stolen property.
Sunday — Two Parker area men are jailed in connection with the theft of a pistol in Scrubgrass Township.Police nabbed Joshua James Fair, 19 and Jacob Lorne Lyndon Hurrelbrink, 23, in Parker City on the same day as the break-in at a home on Big Bend Road.Fair is charged with theft, receiving stolen property and illegal sale of a gun; Hurrelbrink is charged with receiving stolen property. Police said Fair and Hurrelbrink are in the Venango County Jail on $25,000 bond and $5,000 bond, respectively.
July 20 — A Pittsburgh Steelers' jacket and a Steelers' blanket as well as seven lighters were stolen July 19 or 20 in a burglary at R&D Wholesale on Bingeman Road in Madison Township. The stolen property is valued at $112.
