McDonald

Gladys J. McDonald, 72, of Butler received her invitation to meet her God at 2:45 p.m. Saturday. She was at home surrounded by her loving and devoted family.

Gladys was born in Butler Sept. 8, 1935, a daughter of the late Elroy L. and Edna Marie Caldwell Snodgrass.

She had worked as a telephone operator for the Bell Telephone Co., the United Telephone Co. for 12 years and retired from the Herman's Answering Service after 16 years.

She loved to read, work on puzzles and enjoyed her flowers. Nothing made her happier than being involved in her grandchildren's lives. Gladys will be remembered by all who knew her by her sweet, tender smile and kind heart and wisdom. She will always hold a special place in their hearts.

A member of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church in Butler, she had a strong devotion to her religion and greatly enjoyed her visits from the priests, and her dear friend, Sister Mary Edmund of St. Paul's, and many of her friends.

The widow of Dale R. McDonald, who died in 1994, she also was preceded in death by her son, Daniel L. McDonald on May 6, 2008. As the last surviving member of her immediate family, she also was preceded by three brothers, Robert, Donald and Carl Snodgrass; and a sister, Ruth Herman Wigton.

Surviving are two daughters, Terri D. (Richard) Rainey of Ebensburg and Vicki L. (Frederick) McKnight of Butler; a daughter-in-law, Carol McDonald of Butler; five grandchildren, Dustin (Kelly) Rainey of Holidaysburg, Bethany Rainey of Ebensburg, and Benjamin and Angela McKnight and Leeanna McDonald, all of Butler; and a number of nieces and nephews.

<B>MCDONALD </B>— Friends of Gladys J. McDonald, who died Saturday, May 17, 2008, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, 128 N. McKean St. Burial will follow at the Greenlawn Burial Estates, Mount Chestnut.The St. Paul Guild and Christian Mothers will recite the rosary at 9:40 a.m. Wednesday at the church.Her family suggests memorial donations could be made to the Butler County Renal Dialysis Center, 229 W.
