Clyde V. "Speaker" Ishman, 79, of Fenelton died Thursday at his home after a long illness.

Born May 10, 1928, in Knoxdale, Jefferson County, he was the son of John and Minnie Mottern Ishman.

He worked five years at Yellowdog Limestone in Worthington, and then worked 31 years as a refrigeration operator at Union Carbide, Linde Air, retiring Dec. 1, 1982, when the plant closed.

He was an Army veteran of World War II and obtained the rank of corporal. He was a member of the Chicora VFW Post.

He also belonged to Fenelton United Methodist Church.

He enjoyed playing cards, especially euchre.

Surviving are a daughter, Maggie Flanigan of Butler; a son, Vic Ishman of Shaler Township; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

His wife, Lois Jean Ishman, whom he married Dec. 18, 1948, died Feb. 25, 2000. He also was preceded in death by six brothers and four sisters.

Slippery Rock St., Chicora. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with Rev. David Walters, pastor of St. John's Reformed Church of Chicora, officiating.
