Gerwick

Kenneth E. "Ken" Gerwick, 76, of Eau Claire died of natural causes at 9:35 a.m. Tuesday at his home.

Born Nov. 10, 1930, in St. Petersburg, Clarion County, he was the son of Lewis E. and Mary Smith Gerwick.

He was a 1948 graduate of Emlenton High School.

Mr. Gerwick served in the Army during the Korean War from April 3, 1952, to Jan. 6, 1954. He was honorably discharged with the rank of corporal and was awarded the Korean Service Medal with three Bronze Stars, the United Nations Service Medal, the Combat Infantry Badge, the Good Conduct Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.

He was a longtime member of Paul W. Wood VFW Post 7073 in Cherry Valley, where he was post adjutant for more than 20 years. He also enjoyed many years as a member of the post's bowling team at the Bruin Lanes.

He had been a carpet installer for J.M. Beatty Furniture in Eau Claire for more than 45 years and retired in 1999.

Following retirement, he spent many hours landscaping his property and keeping his home in good condition.

Surviving are his wife, Barbara "Hon" Vogle Gerwick, whom he married Sept. 18, 1954; three sons, Glenn Gerwick and his wife, Denise, of St. Petersburg, David L. Gerwick of Eau Claire and Steve Gerwick of Butler; three grandchildren: Glenn Jr., Christopher, and Kaitlyn Gerwick; two sisters, Yvonne and Barb Gerwick, both of Emlenton; and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret "Peg" Ferguson and Mary Lou Boros; and two brothers, Alvin Gerwick and infant Roger Lee Gerwick.

<B>GERWICK</B> — Friends of Kenneth E. "Ken" Gerwick, who died Tuesday, March 6, 2007, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at <B>H. Jack Buzard Funeral Home</B>, Main St. (Route 38), Eau Claire.Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Kathleen Soltis, pastor of Bethel United Methodist Church of Eau Claire, officiating.
