Groves

Le Roy Burtner Groves, 90, died Feb. 10 in Orlando, Fla.

He was born March 10, 1916, in Butler and had lived in Orlando since 1959.

Mr. Groves was an Army veteran and served in the Republic of Panama and in the Korean War.

He retired from Cape Canaveral as a technical writer.

He loved to bowl, and in his retirement, he bowled as many as four days a week until the age of 88.

Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Bernyce R. Groves; five children, Carolyn Meade of New Port Richey, Fla., Daniel Bohannon of Orlando, Alice Hopkins of Narcoossee, Fla., Chrystal Francois of El Dorado Hills, Calif.; Rosetta Ginther of Orlando; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He also is survived by four sisters, Mrs. Clyde (Ruth) Newcome, Mrs. James (Mary) Ward and Mrs. William (Jean) Flatt, all of Butler and Mrs. Fred (Martha Jane) Thompson of Chicora.

He was preceded in death by his twin brother and four sisters.

<B>GROVES</B> — Funeral services for Le Roy Burtner Groves, who died Saturday, Feb. 10, 2007, were held Feb. 16. in Orlando. Burial was at the Chapel Hill Cemetery, Orlando.
