4 named to fill spots on BC3 trustee board

BUTLER TWP - Four new people have been named to the board of trustees of the Butler County Community College.

They are: state Rep. Brian Ellis, R-11th; Dr. William DiCuccio; Robert Smith, president of Slippery Rock University; and Keith Howell, general manager of AK Steel's Butler Works.

These new members complete the 15-member board, according to a BC3 news release.

Ellis, DiCuccio and Smith were appointed by the Butler County Commissioners in August and September.

Howel fills the seat recently left vacant by Wade Wright of AK Steel, and joined the board in September, the news release said.

He was named general manger of AK Steel's Middletown, Ohio, Works in January 2000. He later moved to the company's Butler plant.

Ellis was elected to the House of Representatives in November 2004.

DiCuccio is president of William DiCuccio and Associates, a seven-physician primary care group of pediatricians, internists and family physicians. It is in Butler.

Smith came to SRU in 1999 as provost and vice president for academic affairs. He became interim president in 2002 and president in 2004.

BC3 has more than 18 agreements with SRU. Twenty percent to 25 percent of the transfer students from BC3 go to SRU.
