Focus on assistance

A big round of applause to Marilyn Mourer of Donegal Township for her letter of Sept. 7 (“Live in unity”). I’m glad to see I’m not the only person thinking that we do not look at the positive side of our country. Maybe even let those statues stand. As we explain them to the younger generations, maybe they could better understand how we got here.

The weather in Texas and the East Coast are horrible situations. The fires in the West and now in Montana will likely put some farmers out of business. We Americans help others out. A big thank-you to Altmire Trucking for their trucks of hay to Montana and South Dakota.

And then there are people who gouge these people who have enough problems without someone overcharging and not doing a good job or even in some cases they pay and no work gets done.

But as these things are in the news daily, we really should be putting a lot more work into the drug epidemic. The divide over the illegals, the unemployed, having more trade schools, less me-me-me. That is first grade action. We should be doing more, “How can we help each other.”

Remember where we came from and how we can help others reach their goals.
