Advanced OB/GYN Associates has announced that it is joining Butler Health System and UPMC’s ob/Gyn joint venture, saying the move will provide patients with high quality care and greater access to the latest research and clinical advances.

The group said that UPMC Magee services will continue to be available at their office on Brady Street in Butler, which offers consultations for high-risk obstetrics, cancer and infertility, as well as ultrasounds.

The new practice will be known as Advanced Ob/Gyn Associates and will remain at its locations in Butler, on Ehrman Road in Cranberry Township, and on Innovation Drive in Slippery Rock. It will continue to accept UPMC-supported insurance plans and all insurances accepted by Butler Health System, including Highmark.

[naviga:h3]Restaurant that served horse warned[/naviga:h3]

PITTSBURGH — The U.S. Department of Agriculture has warned a Pittsburgh restaurant to not serve horse meat again.

The Cure Restaurant hosted a special dinner with Canadian chefs on May 8 that included horse tartare.

A USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service spokesperson says Cure chef and co-owner Justin Severino received a warning letter for illegally bringing horsemeat into the country. The warning letter carries no penalties, but means the restaurant could be criminally prosecuted if it serves horse again.

Severino says the meat came from a sustainable horse farm in Canada and isn’t part of the regular menu. The USDA says Congress has banned the inspection of horses for human consumption since fiscal year 2005.

[naviga:h3]Flight diverts because of air show[/naviga:h3]

PITTSBURGH — A Southwest Airlines jetliner scheduled to land at Pittsburgh International Airport diverted to a smaller airport because of an air show.

The flight from Orlando was scheduled to land around 4 p.m. Sunday. But airspace was closed because of Wings Over Pittsburgh. The flight landed at Allegheny County Airport instead.

Southwest says in order to avoid using the contingency fuel reserve, the captain declared an emergency to receive priority handling out of an abundance of caution.

[naviga:h3]Home Depot tops expected revenue[/naviga:h3]

ATLANTA — Home Depot topped expectations for profit and revenue and it raised its profit outlook for the year, sending shares toward an all-time high before the opening bell today.

Economic data released by the U.S. last week showed that Americans are spending a lot of money at places like hardware stores even as they cut down on budgets for clothing and other items. Also today, economists expect the Commerce Department to report that home construction ramped up in April.

For the three months ended April 30, revenue climbed to $23.89 billion from $22.76 billion. Analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research predicted revenue of $23.74 billion.
