KC grad Sherwin leads Thiel win

GREENVILLE — Karns City graduate Cole Sherwin collected three hits on Tuesday in helping the Thiel College baseball team post a 10-9 win over Waynesburg in the first game of a doubleheader.

Sherwin also scored a run and had two RBI in the game. The Tomcats dropped the second game, 18-1.

Altar Girl wins for driver Johnston

WASHINGTON, PA. — Evans City’s Shawn Johnston drove Altar Girl to victory against 54-1 odds during harness racing action Wednesday at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows.

The 4-year-old mare captured a $9,000 Conditioned Pace in her 16th career start. It was her first win.
